Ilm-e-Dawat

(The Knowledge of Communication with the Sacred Souls of Shrines)

The way that there are different forms of media in the physical world for connectivity such as telephone, mobile phone, internet, etc. likewise in the spiritual world, the medium to connect with our saints, sacred companions and prophets is through Ilm-e-Dawat (knowledge of communication with the sacred souls of shrines). Ilm-e-Dawat is a unique spiritual act whereby by the permission of perfect spiritual guide (Murshid Kamil), one connects to saints, sacred companions and prophets by reciting the Quran in a specific pattern. Our saints, sacred companions and prophets are in fact our real spiritual helpers and sources of benevolence. Through Dawat, one can express one’s love for them, can request for spiritual benevolence and can ask for solution of problems. Prophet Mohammad pbuh said in a Hadith:

اِذَا تَحَیَّرْتُم فِی الْاُمُوْرِ فَاسْتَعِنُوْا مِنْ اَھْلِ الْقُبُورِ

Meaning: When you are worried or confused about your (spiritual) affairs, just seek help from the dwellers of the shrines.

This means that if someone loves Ali ibn Abi Talib, Fatima tuz Zahra, Imam Hussain, Imam Hassan, Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani or Sultan Bahoo and wants to meet them spiritually, then by the medium (vaseela) of perfect spiritual guide and his granted Ilm-e-Dawat (also known as Dawat-e-Qaboor) he can do so and can seek their help. However, if the perfect spiritual guide does not grant this knowledge or does not take the seeker to the sacred courts, the seeker cannot take any of these steps on his own. Even if he does try, he would achieve nothing. Sultan-ul-Faqr V Sultan Bahoo is the first person in history to have revealed Ilm-e-Dawat in his books and Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman is the first person to have granted Ilm-e-Dawat upon his disciples so openly. Sultan Bahoo states about Ilm-e-Dawat:

  • Man acquires gnosis of Allah (Marifah-e-Elahi) by the Quran. When he recites the Quran on the graves of the saints, all his problems are solved. In this way by the recital of the Quran on the grave of saints, one is blessed to meet the sacred souls of saints and prophets, to enter their sacred assembly and to shake hands with them. Just like Prophet Isa, the status of ‘ARABIC’ (rise by the command of Allah) is also achieved by the Quran and the sacred graves of saints. The ability to be spiritually present and Ism-e-Azam (the greatest name) is also achieved by the Quran and the sacred souls of saints. The continuity and stability in the invocation (zikr) and in the station of Divine Unification where one is gifted with Ilham (inspiration) is gained with the recitation of Quran upon the graves of the sacred saints even all sort of knowledge is gained in the same way such as knowledge of Allah’s beneficence, knowledge direct from Allah, gnosis of Allah, knowledge attained through hardwork or conventional knowledge, etc. Occupation upon the Solomon Empire, power over all the spiritual and physical levels and dominance upon the whole world is also gained by reciting the Quran in the company of souls of saints. The status of becoming a scholar, practicing scholar and perfect independent Faqeer mystic annihilated in Allah (Alim Amil Kamil LaYahtaj Arif Billah Faqeer) is also achieved by reciting Quran upon the graves of saints but this is only possible if one has been permitted or commanded by the perfect spiritual guide who is the greatest rider of graves himself and hence proficient in all the spiritual and physical ways and rules his self (nafs). This status belongs to that saint whose inner being is completely purified. The one who has achieved the ultimate level of practicing Dawat, he is always protected within the fort of 4 armies. Whether the person is able to see them or not, the armies are always attentive towards the person who is practicing dawat.  The four armies are:
  1. Prophet Mohammad pbuh, his 4 sacred companions and other companions;
  2. Army of martyrs especially Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan and their army;
  3. Army of angels and attendant spirits; and
  4. Jinns and other saints who practice Dawat.

These armies are equipped with all sorts of weapons be it swords, spears, axes or guns, etc. If they are aroused with their spiritual wrath and outrage, they can attack the enemy of the one who is practicing Dawat whereby the enemy gets so wounded that by the command of Allah he dies within a moment. However, the Faqeer should be well-wisher of others and show mercy towards others for the sake of Allah without giving pain to others because as you sow so shall you reap. Prophet Mohammad pbuh says, “INSERT ARABIC (He who digs a pit for his brother, falls in it himself.)” Prophet Mohammad pbuh also says, “INSERT ARABIC (Love and hate only for the sake of Allah.)” He who hurts the friend of Allah, surely gets disgraced in both the worlds. Some people chose to recite Dawat to dominate the people of the world but they fail to understand the meaning of Dawat. They are like those who charm snakes to imprison it whereas their purpose is only to capture the creature by their spells. Such people cannot be called saints because they are only wizards who pronounce spells. (Mehak-ul-Faqr Kalan)

  • By Ilm-e-Dawat, heavenly, lower spheres, 18,000 types of creations, jinns and men, angels and attendant spirits, etc. are conquered. All the creatures of the world can be taken into control and all the levels of Divine attributes and closeness to the Divine Essence can be achieved. There are numerous methods and various offerings of reciting Dawat but it is very difficult to practice it properly. The disciple is not able enough to perform Dawat without the command of Allah and permission of Prophet Mohammad pbuh. The pseudo and imperfect ones stay greedy in their lust for materialism. The one who stays immersed in the observation of the Divine Essence by the contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat (the personal name of Allah), attains presence in the spiritual gathering of saints and prophets at the completion of the Dawat. He meets every soul. These levels are achieved by the contemplation of the personal name of Allah, recitation of Dawat at the graves of saints and by being acceptable to Allah. There are four abilities for the sign of Dawat. The person does not require to build fortification around; he does not need to refrain from eating any sort of meat; he gets the ability to stay engrossed in the Oneness of Divine Light; and he gets spiritual presence in the Mohammadan Assembly where he gets the correct answers to all his questions. (Asrar-e-Qadri)
  • When a disciple recites Dawat by the tongue of the soul with attention, contemplation and authority, then the souls of all the prophets, saints and Muslims encircle him and help him by reciting Dawat with him. Such a Dawat verifies it in one breath and one moment and makes it acceptable even if he asks for power over all the Solomon Empire from East to West. Whoever recites Ilm-e-Dawat by the tongue of the core (where there is Divine secret) through contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat, then he becomes the favourite of Allah and his inward converts into Divine Light within a moment. Such a practitioner of Dawat is known as the man of Divine Presence.  Whoever recites Ilm-e-Dawat by the tongue of Divine light through contemplation of Ism-e-Mohammad (the name of Mohammad pbuh), then indeed the sacred and grand soul of Prophet Mohammad pbuh as well as the souls of each and every companion encircle him and help him and practices Dawat with him by reciting the Quranic verses. Once this sort of Dawat is practiced, its effect stays till the Day of Judgment. This is the level about which it is said, INSERT ARABIC (The tongue of Fuqara is the sword of Allah.) and the tongue becomes Allah’s sword when Prophet Mohammad pbuh spiritually allows him to swear oath of allegiance upon his sacred hands and transfers his sacred saliva inside his mouth. The keys of all forms of Dawat are in custody of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. (Noor-ul-Huda Kalan)
  • These stages of the spiritual communication (Dawat) do not belong to the verbal conversation, rather relate to Meaning: Renounce yourself and find Allah. It is the saying of Prophet Mohammad pbuh: Meaning: Kill your nafs by the sword of mystic struggle (Mujahida). But the worldly person does not have the strength to go near the grave of a spiritual one to fight him. This is the path of spiritualism in which the reality of the soul is dominant on the friends of Allah. Understand perfectly that the mystic struggle of “Ism-e-Allah” is more dominating than the struggle of the sword. The Dawat neither progresses nor is it executed by reciting just once, unless the communicator recites it in such a way that at the time of beginning he thinks, he is facing Allah, then makes Prophet Mohammad pbuh his mediator and intercessor, considers Mohi-ud-Din Abdul Qadir Jilani as the possessor of the Divine Trust and thinks of himself as a judge, then closes his eyes to meditate that what is better than Allah which can be won by reciting Dawat. If he is completely sure that the entire creation is inferior to the Creator and nothing is better than Him, then Allah will be kind and beneficent to him and will turn both the realms at his disposal and enslave them for him. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman states about Ilm-e-Dawat:

  • Dawat-e-Qaboor is a religious and spiritual act, in which verses of the Quran are recited in certain order on the shrine of some mystic, saint or a Faqeer through which the soul of the dweller of the shrine comes and helps the recite. It should also be remembered that there is a great difference between Dawat-e-Qaboor (the knowledge of seeking help from shrines) and Kashf-ul-Qaboor (the revelation from the graves). In the process of Kashf-ul-Qaboor or revelation from the graves, the states of the dwellers of the graves are known by reciting the Quran on the graves of the common Muslims. The reciter comes to know the condition in which they are living in the Burzakh (intermediate state). Whereas, Dawat-e-Qaboor is recited only on the shrines of the saints and Fuqara to communicate with them. (Shams-ul-Fuqara)
  • Ilm-e-Dawat has a great importance in the path of Faqr. The perfect spiritual guide grants it to the seeker when he reaches the Divine court of Allah by the contemplation of Ism-e-Allah. But the seeker must remember that his desire should only be the vision of Allah and the presence in the Mohammadan Assembly. (Shams-ul-Fuqara) Whenever a person recites Dawat, he should do so to get presence in the Mohammadan Assembly. The perfect practitioners of Dawat never recite it to gain worldly benefits or wealth. Whoever recites Dawat for worldly objectives is not aware of the real way and purpose of reciting Dawat. He is in fact (spiritually) indigent and at the level of evil and deceit. Dawat is only revealed upon the pure seekers who are sincere to gain Allah’s vision and consent instead of a polluted intent.
  • When a perfect seeker recites Dawat, he is blessed with the Divine treasures but when an imperfect person recites Dawat, it inflicts pain upon him like a bare sword. Granting the knowledge of Dawat (i.e. making a seeker capable to recite Dawat) is not an easy task. Only the strong and highly courageous perfect mystics and the vigilant and aware Saints of Allah who are blessed with closeness of Allah, are the true practitioners of Dawat. The people who are inwardly like the blind folded cattle are not eligible to recite Dawat. (Ameer-ul-Kaunain)
  • Before Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman, people were not aware of the concept of Ilm-e-Dawat. Due to his miraculous favour, this elevated spiritual knowledge known as Ilm-e-Dawat is granted to the pure and truthful disciples and they have been connected to the most beloved saints of Allah. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen’s spiritual status and belovedness among the saints can be identified by the fact that previously Dawat was only granted to male disciples and could only be practiced at the shrine of a saint but Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen made Dawat permissible to both male as well as female disciples and he also removed the restriction of Dawat to be practiced only within a shrine. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen is dearest to Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani, the beloved of Sultan Bahoo and the identity of Sultan-ul-Faqr Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali. Hence, his requests are always accepted and he even allowed female disciples to practice Dawat within their houses and this is granted to all his female disciples.

It is our claim that in this era, the like of this spiritual guide-Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen cannot be found. Such elevated spiritual powers and supreme levels of closeness to Allah are only achieved by Sultan-ul-Ashqieen. He has spread the beneficence of Faqr to all disciples without any discrimination caste, creed, color, gender, sect, etc. His doors are open for all those who seek Allah and His Prophet with sincerity.
