عاشق دا دِل موم برابر، معشوقاں وَل کاہلی ھُو
طاماں ویکھ کے تُر تُر تَکّے، جیوں بازاں دِی چالی ھُو
باز بے چارا کیونکر اُڈّے، پیریں پیوس دُوالی ھُو
جیں دِل عشق خرید نہ کیتا بَاھُوؒ، دُوہاں جہانوں خالی ھُ

ਆਸ਼ਕ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਮੋਮ ਬਰਾਬਰ, ਮਾਸ਼ੂਕਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਕਾਹਲ਼ੀ ਹੂ
ਤਾਮਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਤੁਰ ਤੱਕੇ, ਜਿਓਂ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਲੀ ਹੂ
ਬਾਜ਼ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਰ ਉੱਡੇ, ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪਇਓਸ ਦਵਾਲੀ ਹੂ

Lover’s heart is benign and benevolent but in haste towards the Beloved
Demeanour of a hawk, stare desirously at food
How can the hawk take flight, tied are its claws
O Bahoo, whose heart has not traded for love is deprived in both the worlds
Explanation by Sultan ul Ashiqeen
The inwards of the Divine lovers are soft and pure. They are eager to meet the Beloved (Divine Essence) and ever remain restless and perturbed for it. They are always waiting for the beneficence of His vision with their eyes thirsty for more but are caught in their human limitations as well as worldly bounds hence cannot disclose the secret of their Beloved. He who has not earned the Divine love remains deprived and miserable in both the worlds.
