72. Essence - Not Attributes
جاں جاں ذات نہ تھیوے بَاھُوؒ، تاں کم ذات سدیوے ھُو
ذاتی نال صفاتی ناہیں، تاں تاں حق لبھیوے ھُو
اندر وِی ھُو باہر وِی ھُو، بَاھُوؒ کِتھے لبھیوے ھُو
جیندے اندر حُبّ دُنیا بَاھُوؒ، اوہ مول فقیر نہ تھیوے ھُو

ਜਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਜ਼ਾਤ ਨਾ ਥੀਵੇ ਬਾਹੂ(ਰਹ), ਤਾਂ ਕਮਜ਼ਾਤ ਸਦੀਵੇ ਹੂ
ਜ਼ਾਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਤੀ ਨਾਹੀਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਹੱਕ ਲਭੀਵੇ ਹੂ
ਅੰਦਰ ਵੀ ਹੂ ਬਾਹਰ ਵੀ ਹੂ, ਬਾਹੂ(ਰਹ) ਕਿੱਥੇ ਲਭੀਵੇ ਹੂ
ਜੈਂਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੁੱਬ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਬਾਹੂ(ਰਹ), ਉਹ ਮੂਲ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਨਾ ਥੀਵੇ ਹੂ

Jaan jaan Zaat na theeve Bahoo, taan kamzaat sadeeve Hoo
Zaatee naal sifaatee naaheen, taan taan Haqq labheeve Hoo
Andar vee Hoo baahar vee Hoo, Bahoo kithe labheeve Hoo
Jeinde andar hubb dunya Bahoo, ooh mool Fakir na theeve Hoo

You’re ignoble if your desire is not Allah’s Essence
You’ll find God. Just seek His Essence, not attributes
Soul and body are Hoo. You won’t find Bahoo
Bahoo apprises, he is not a ‘Fakir’ who has even a speck of worldly love
Explanation by Sultan ul Ashiqeen
Unless you get attentive towards the Divine Essence and annihilate yourself in Him turning your eyes away from the attributes, your status would remain low. If your aim is not to achieve spiritual stations or attributes but the Essence, only then you will find Allah. After Divine union my spiritual state is such that I behold Hoo (ھُو) in the physical as well as in the inner world and I am annihilated entirely in the Essence. That person can never be a Fakir who has even a little bit of love for the world.
